The Romans
The world is more indebted to the Romans than to any other ancient civilization. Most of the world uses the Latin alphabet and the world's largest religion, Christianity, originated in the Roman Empire. Roman-inspired classical architecture dominates our nation's capital in recognition of the republican form of government that we have borrowed from the Romans.
